Based on feedback we have received from our clients, MyJobPlan has now been redesigned to facilitate continuous job planning. This is instead of the concept of fixed rounds where all doctors job-plan at the same time and only once a year.
Continuous job planning recognises that job plans don’t necessarily change only once a year. Also that job plans can change at different times in the year, for doctors in the same trust or department, working towards different deadlines.
With continuous job planning, doctors and managers can work on, and seek agreement to job plans at any time in the year. Therefore doctors and managers can agree a start and end date for each individual job plan, for when that job plan is valid.
The reporting functionality in MyJobPlan, that allows managers to analyse PAs across job plans, will temporarily remain unchanged. When reporting on historical data, managers will report on a period of time that relates to the round in which the job plans were published, rather than reporting on job plans that fall within a unique period of time defined and agreed by the consultant and their manager. However, future improvements to the reporting functionality, will enable managers to choose a specific period of time, and report only on job plans that have a start and end date that fall within that given time.
There is now a library of out-of-date job plans for current, as well as for retired doctors, and a facility to store job plans with start dates in the future.
We think that the increased flexibility of continuous job planning will be very useful, as it reflects much better the variable processes in different trusts with respect to timing and frequency of job planning.
For those trusts however who do prefer to job-plan in a defined period for the whole of the trust, there remains a facility for the project manager to publish all job plans to doctors at the same time. The advantages of continuous job planning (flexibility for archiving job plans and changes in-year) are still available.
